GET INVOLVED

There are a number of different ways you can get involved with YOS and the wider Salvation Army Community.

Employment

All TSA job opportunities are listed on The Salvation Army Australia website. Click on the Employment link at the bottom of this page to see current advertised vacancies.

Student Placements

YOS recognizes that student placements are a vital component of study and preparation for working in the field, therefore we offer a limited number of placements throughout the year to suitable candidates. Industry placements are offered to TAFE and/or university students. If you're interested in doing your course student placement with YOS, please click below and tell us a bit about yourself and a member from our team will contact you.  Alternatively, you can phone our Ellen Grove office on 07 3854 1245 to speak to a member of our team.

Please note:

You must hold a current Working with Children Blue Card from the Commission for Children and Young People.

YOS management will assess your placement criteria to determine if our service will be suitable for your placement. All interested students are required to attend an interview.

Volunteers

YOS recognizes that volunteer contributions enrich the services provided to young people and we welcome the community to help in any of the following ways:

  • Rostered Activities & Programs: In keeping with your own areas of interest and skill, you can assist staff in facilitating a range of programs such as Life Skills, Health & Fitness or Education.

  • Distinct Sessions: You may have a specific skillset, but you are unable to commit to a regular time. YOS may host distinct sessions, for you to come in, for example a volunteer who is a hairdresser can arrange times to come in and provide free haircuts.

  • Give financially: Some people choose to support YOS by donating money to support various programs. For example, you might like to sponsor a young person in obtaining their education or put money towards our end of year Student Graduation Ceremony.

  • Give time and talent in other ways:  Contact us if you have any ideas.

Alternatively, you could donate clothing for young people, supply personal hygiene products or non-perishable food items

To become a YOS volunteer:

  • You must hold a current Suitability for Working with Children and Young People Blue Card from the Commission for Children and Young People. YOS may assist with your application.

  • An interview and orientation are essential for all interested people.
